We are pleased to welcome Summer Bottini, PhD, BCBA-D to share her knowledge with our organization!
Abstract: Burnout is highly prevalent in behavior analytic settings (Bottini et al., 2020; Slowiak & DeLongchamp, 2022; Slowiak & Jay, 2023). Job burnout is linked to numerous negative outcomes for behavioral providers (e.g., physical and psychological symptoms), their clients (e.g., integrity errors, worsened interactions from providers), and clinical organizations (e.g., costs associated with provider absenteeism and turnover). This presentation will present research on defining and identifying burnout via a behavioral lens. From there, we will discuss the role of supervisors in addressing burnout and research on strategies to mitigate or prevent burnout. Finally, this presentation will discuss implications of a behavioral approach in developing novel approaches to supporting supervisees.
